Desolate Hope, current lore
Desolate hope takes place in the year 2024, to say that the day of reckoning came was an understatement, the year opened up with worldwide open conflict, relations between the world superpowers had been failing as supplies of fossil fuels and natural resources began to fade, and soon the tiny spark that was needed, indeed ignited the world into a sea of fire. For months this "World War 3" raged on. The United states fighting a war on two fronts, China on one side, Russia on the other. Europe was in turmoil, attempting to stay alive on top of providing what assistance they can to their US allies.
Nuclear war was on the topic of most talks... However something different.. Something more unexpected happened. An infection, an illness, of unknown origin, at first it began sprouting up on the East Coast of United states. Reports of people acting erratic, rabid even... Eyes bloodshot. Using nails and teeth as weapons, and this infection spread fast. It seemed as though all that these "Afflicted" needed to do was bite a victim, and within the hour the bitten victim would begin to slowly deteriorate, lose their minds, before eventually becoming an Afflicted themselves.
It is now October. War a thing of the past, the world lies in ashes, few remain uninfected. And those that do have no other choice but to survive... Survive as best they can, some travel in small groups, others choose a nomadic life. Your survivors part of the story takes place in the state of New York, an empty place full of ash filled cities and silent battlefields. Not to mention hordes of afflicted... Good luck out there
